Preparing for Easter

This Sunday marks a very special day for Christians. Easter! Easter is the day we celebrate Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, making it possible for anyone to come into a relationship with God and experience eternal life in Heaven and a fulfilling life here on earth.

If you’re like me and hadn’t gotten around to doing anything refreshing to prepare yourself for the Easter holiday and all that it means, you can join me this week as I do.

I’ve decided that a fun way to do this will be to explore 6 verses, one each day until Easter, and to journal each day as well. You could even turn this into a fun conversation starter for your family each day.

If you would like to join me, here are the verses and questions that I will be focusing on:

Day 1- Monday

Verse: “And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus” -Luke 24: 2-3

Journaling prompt: How would you have felt or reacted if you would have been there for the crucifixion, burial, and resurrection of Jesus?

Day 2- Tuesday

Verse: “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?'” -John 11:25-26

Journaling prompt: Do you believe this? How did you come to believe this?

Day 3- Wednesday

Verse: “And with great power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.” -Acts 4:33

Journaling prompt: What is your “testimony”? What would you say if someone asked you about your experience with Christ?

Day 4- Thursday

Verse: “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” -1 Peter 1:3

Journaling prompt: What can you do in your day-to-day life to praise God?

Day 5- Good Friday

Verse: “But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our inequities; on him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and by his stripes we are healed.” -Isaiah 53:5

Journaling prompt: What are some of your transgressions and inequities that Jesus took the punishment for?

Day 6- Saturday

Verse: “By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also” -1 Corinthians 6:14

Journaling prompt: What can you do to serve God while you’re still here on earth?

Do you do anything special to prepare for Easter?
