I love that the internet makes it possible to access the wisdom of all kinds of people, anytime. Today’s installment in the Goals Series is simply looking at the thoughts of others when it comes to goals. I hope you find these quotes inspiring!

“Arriving at one goal is the starting point to another” –John Dewey

I love this mentality. Sometimes this idea can seem discouraging, because it seems like as soon as you feel like you’ve arrived, there’s more. But I think that’s the wrong way to look at it. I know that perfection is impossible for humans on this side of heaven, so we might as well embrace the idea that we aren’t going to reach every goal. Instead, let’s look at it like a stepping stone towards constant improvement.

“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream” –C.S. Lewis

C.S. Lewis was full of such wonderful ideas. This one is particularly wonderful for those of you who may feel like you missed your opportunity for something in life. Until you take your last breath, you can always set new goals for yourself!

“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off the goal” –Henry Ford

Man, can I agree with this one. I’ve been asked how I did it, with going to college full-time, working full-time, and being in the middle of remodeling a house, but the simple answer is: I knew what I wanted and I knew how to get there, so I just did it. There were plenty of obstacles, but there will always be plenty of obstacles. Focus on your goal, and you’ll maneuver around those obstacles no problem.

“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” –Philippians 3:14

For my fellow Christians out there, the Bible makes it clear that our life is like a race and we should push forwards towards the prize, that is, ultimate fellowship with Jesus. This same persistence can be valuable for any area of your life!

“The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written. We can help write that story by setting goals.” –Melody Beattie

This quote is pretty straightforward but powerful. It’s January and we’re looking ahead to the new year. Do you want to let the winds of life take you where they take you? Or do you want to have a life of purpose and direction?

I hope these quotes have inspired you today. What’s your favorite motivational quote?
